Join popular WJNI Gospel Radio host Terry Base, Garcia Williams, executive director of The Medi, and April Lott, first vice president for both the A. Philip Randolph Institute of Greater Charleston and the South Carolina FL-CIO, for a conversation about the social determinants of health! On Monday morning, they’ll discuss the effects of menthol on Black communities.
Tobacco-related illness is one of the primary causes of death among Blacks. On Sunday, May 16, the National Council of Negro Women: Bethune Leonard Section, the Center for Black Health & Equity, and the Lowcountry Menthol Ban Coalition will hold a No Menthol Sunday, where all smokers will be asked to take the small step of not using tobacco products for just one day. At 7 PM on the following Wednesday, May 19, these organizations will host a virtual town hall sharing information and history on menthol and its effects. Enjoy a sneak peek at this event on Monday morning’s show!
In addition to her leadership work with the A. Philip Randolph Institute of Greater Charleston and the South Carolina FL-CIO, Charleston native April Lott is a member of the National Council of Negro Women.
